Today Indian film & television industry is the largest in the world. It is a source of employment for 6.5 million people and employment opportunities are rising by the day.
As per rough estimation by Economics Times, by the year 2017, hundred thousand more trained professionals will be required to make thousands of hours of Television programs and feature films for the ever growing numbers of TV channels and multiplex Cinema across the country.
But there are not enough, good film schools which offer practical training to prepare the huge talent pool of next generation film professionals needed for future expansion of the industry. Either you have Government aided Film Institutes with limited seats or privately run international film schools with their exorbitant fees.
The Institute of Moving Images was founded on a belief that a top quality education in filmmaking should be accessible at an affordable cost to anyone with the drive and ambition to make films.
IMI opened its doors in May 2006 in MMK College, Mumbai with short course in film making. And soon we branched out to Pune - the educational hub of India. Since that time we have grown into our own facilities and today, we hold 18 Months full-time Advanced Diploma, One year full-time Diploma, Two months Weekend Short-term Certificate Programs throughout the year.
We also conduct Filmmaking Foundation Workshops at a number of additional locations in Mumbai, New Delhi, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaiput and other parts of India in collaboration with different colleges and universities.
Since 2006, when the first student enrolled with us, we have come a long way. Today the Institute of Moving Images is considered one of the most prominent film school in India.
