Screenwriting is a craft.


An understanding of all the technical aspects of visual storytelling is the foremost requirement to practice Screenwriting.


Two months of online, live-interactive IMI Weekend Script Writing Program introduces you to the exact techniques that all professional scriptwriters apply. You learn early in the course that in the film business "writing is rewriting".

With a series of lectures, discussions and writing exercises students are taught the universal Principles of Storytelling, Developing the Characters, Character Arc, 3 Act Structure, 4 Tent Poles, introduction to Screenplay Formatting, the grammar of Filmmaking as well as how to manipulate the Screen time.

The regular in-class screening & analysis of the best of world cinema help you to identify the beat points of Scenes & how they are intelligently designed and integrated into the script by the master storytellers to infuse strong commercial appeal in their films.

Simultaneously, you are introduced to the business of screenwriting- how to protect, pitch & market your work, including an overview of film industry conventions, copyright, legal & financial issues.


We ensure that at least you have the first draft of your own script ready by the end of two months.
